For the second time in three years, Capital’s ABA National Moot Court Team is going to the National Finals.
The team of Sarah Ingles (3L) and Christopher St. Pierre (3L) was one of only four teams out of 32 at last week’s regional competition in Chicago to advance to the National Finals. The finals will be held April 5-7 in Washington, D.C.
Ingles and St. Pierre defeated Detroit Mercy and Chicago Kent in the preliminary rounds, before going on to sweep the semifinal and final rounds against very strong teams from Stetson and Loyola of Chicago, respectively. Both Ingles and St. Pierre received praise from all of the judges, with St. Pierre being officially recognized as the ninth-best oralist. This year’s problem concerns whether the Americans with Disabilities Act requires law enforcement officers to accommodate the disabilities of mentally disabled persons when interacting with them in a criminal investigation.
